In a 50' X 50"area, each year, a family can grow enough sunflower seeds to produce three gallons of vegetable oil suitable for salads or cooking or 20 pounds of nutritious, dehulled seed--with enough broken seeds left over to feed a winter's worth of birds.
Preparing
and Eating the Seeds
NOTE: For the most
complete absorption and utilisation of the nutrients in sunflower seeds,
it is best to soak them for an hour or two. Soaking removes the "enzyme
inhibitors" and makes them more powerfully nutritious.
